Highlights of PM modi speech at BJP Kozhikode meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed Bharatiya Janata Party cadre in Kozhikode on the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's centenary celebrations.

Here are key highlights from his speech.
1. Muslims not a vote bank
Deendayal Upadhyaya ji said Muslims shouldn't be treated as a vote bank, or looked down upon, but should be considered as equals. He said, "Don’t reward Muslims, don’t rebuke Muslims. Empower them."

2. Electoral reforms needed. There is a need for a discussion to bring in a change in the procedure for elections in our country.

3. India to ratify COP 21 Paris (summit on climate change) decisions
Today, people talk about global warming, but Deendayal Upadhyaya ji used to say back then that we should respect our resources. On Mahatma Gandhi's birthday on October 2, India will ratify decisions reached at Conference of Parties (CoP) in Paris.

 4. Government committed to serving the poor
Our party was formed for the poor section of society, and all our initiatives today focus on down-trodden people.

5. The way to equality
Deendayal Upadhyaya used to say that if everyone should be treated as equals, the people at the top should kneel down to help the people at the bottom.

6.No compromise on ideals
BJP's original character is based on the principles of people's welfare. We have never compromised on our ideals. Other parties might have good people, but we have more good people than them. All our senior leaders have made us what we are today.
