Shahabuddin Will Go Back To Jail After Supreme Court Cancels His Bail

Mohammad Shahabuddin, a controversial leader of Lalu Yadav's party RJD, will go back to jail after the Supreme Court today cancelled his bail.

"Take him into custody immediately," the court told the Bihar government on Friday.
A man whose three sons were allegedly killed on Shahabuddin's orders had petitioned against his release earlier this month on bail.

Shahabuddin, a former lawmaker, is accused in over 40 cases of murder, extortion and kidnapping.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was accused by the opposition of giving in to pressure from coalition partner Lalu Yadav and facilitating Shahabuddin's release.

Denying the allegation, the Bihar government also petitioned the court to cancel the politician's bail but was repeatedly rebuked by the top court, which questioned: "Were you in slumber till he got bail?"
Shahabuddin's lawyer had offered that his client would live outside Bihar while out on bail.
