Fire in Bhubaneswar hospital, 19 dead, short circuit suspected

Approx 19 people were dead and more than 50 injured in a major fire that broke out at a leading healthcare institute, Sum Hospital on Monday late night in Bhubneshwar.

At around 7:30 pm fire started in the dialysis ward on the second floor of the hospital. A hospital sources said, an electrical short circuit in the ward could have sparked the fire, which later cover the entire floor within minutes.

The injured patients have moved to other hospitals in the city.

The Oddisa CM Navin Patnaik have visited the hopital and order a enquiry into this incident.

The PM Modi expressed deep anguish at the loss of lives in the incident. Also PM Modi spoke the Ofdisa CM & have assured him for all the help for this incident.

This is the second incident in the state within 6 months. On May 31, a fire broke out at the state-run SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack.
