Peoples are changing their mindset towards cleanliness

Union minister of state for Drinking water and sanitation Ram Kirpal Yadav said on Saturday that the common people mindset is changing towards swachhta since the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched in the country.

People in the rural areas are building toilets inside their houses and general cleanliness in the villages is also taken care of, he said while asking by the mediapersons at the conclusion of Swachhta Pakhwara.

To achieve the targets of Swachh Bharat Mission by 2 oct 2019, it has to be changed into Jan Andolan.

The Swachh Bharat Mission was launched by the Narendra Modi government on Oct 2, 2014.

Out of 6,50,000 villages in the country, 1,04,924 have been declared Open Defecation Free.

He said while few states are far above the national average in sanitation coverage, a few others including Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir and Odisha are in the red zone that is below tthe national average.

The poorly in sanitation coverage include state like, Bihar-25%. Jammu & Kashmir-34%, Odisha-034% and Uttar Pradesh-46%.
