Setback for Congress as Arvinder Singh Lovely joins BJP

The former DPCC chief Arvinder Singh Lovely joins the BJP in the presence of Bhartiya Janata Party President Amit Shah, this is the seen as a major jolt to the Congress Party ahead of the MCD election.

He blamed the party saying that I was trying to meet the central leadership of the Congress Party for over the two months, but unfortunately I could not met, therefore I called the Amit Shah ji once and he given me the time to meet me.

The Lovely, who was a minister in the Sheila Dikshit cabinet, has been with the Congress for the last 31 years. He also cite the reasons for leaving the party, he said that he has taken this decision because no one senior leaders were involved to compaign for the upcoming MCD polls or for the release of the Congress manifesto.

When he was studying at the Delhi University's SGTB Khalsa College from that time he had joined the Congress Party. He has served the party as the General Secretary of the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress and the General Secretary of National Students Union of India.

The Lovely had elected from the Gandhi Nagar constituency in east Delhi in the year 1998 and had represented four times as MLA. He has also served as the education minister of Delhi. After the resignation of J P Agarwal following the defeat of the party in the Delhi Assembly elections in 2013, the Lovely had been appointed as the DPCC president.

Lovely was saying that Nobody took note of his grievances and some more leaders in the Congress are feeling suffocated, they may also leave Congress.

I think the Lovely has taken the right decision, if he was feeling suffocation and being ignored, to leave the Congress.
